LRTCon 2019 Vienna [Link Research Tools Conference Review]

27 January 2019

Posted in: Events News SEO

As we fly back to Bristol from sunny (and cold) Vienna, it’s a great moment to reflect on the success of LRTCon 2019 and look ahead to LRT 2020. As it’s a ‘don’t tweet, don’t blog, don’t tell’ event, we won’t be bringing you the inside scoop, but we will be giving you our thoughts on the event, plus the top reasons to attend LRTCon 2020…

What is LRTCon?

LRTCon is an SEO conference hosted by Link Research Tools: an enterprise link intelligence software run by Christoph Cemper and his team in Vienna.

As a small and exclusive conference, LRTCon attracts a high calibre of speakers and is attended by high-value delegates. The action-packed one-day event is supplemented by networking and other fringe events.

Friendly and relaxed, the conference covers a wide range of issues connected to link building, including link defense, link detox, outreach, technical SEO, and more…

Here are some top reasons why you should attend the next one in May 2020:

Actionable advice from the trenches

As the event is small and exclusive, LRTCon attracts speakers from across the SEO landscape. There’s a nice mix of high profile speakers, plus some very experienced speakers who tend to stay away from the limelight.

You will also probably be pleasantly surprised with how open all the speakers and delegates are when it comes to sharing: the focus is on real case studies, tests, and SEO data often only found in private masterminds. We certainly took loads of notes, which is always a good sign…

Lots of fringe events and opportunities

LRTCon isn’t just a one-day conference. There are loads of other things you can do alongside the main event, like networking in a traditional Austrian restaurant, or attending the Link Research Tools Certification in the days leading up to the event. We did our certification during our week in Vienna, so we had a whole week of LRT! It’s a great opportunity to develop strong ties with people and there were a lot of meals, meet-ups, and beers going down.

Fantastic networking

The accompanying networking opportunities are worth the trip themselves. With tasty Austrian food and drink on tap, there are plenty of chances to strike up a meaningful conversation. The event’s low publicity provided an unguarded atmosphere makes it easy to connect with people, and there were loads of social activities going on alongside the official scheduled ones.

Content and event exclusivity

There will be no published videos, slide decks, and talk roundups from LRTCon. You have to be there to experience it.

International delegates

At this conference, you meet people from around the world, and from a wide range of SEO niches and disciplines. It’s a truly international event that spans a whole spectrum of nations and nationalities.

It’s refreshing to hear about how SEO works in other languages and countries and come together to share challenges and best practice.

Vienna skyline, Austria

Vienna is a beautiful city

I don’t know how many times Christoph welcomed us to Vienna, but it felt good every time. Beautiful, historic, packed with things to do, Vienna is a great setting for a conference like this. Easy to get around and full of hotels, Vienna is a great host city. The May 2020 event will also benefit from being held during the world-famous Viennese Spring… Hint: Viennese coffee and a Sacher tort are the perfect post-conference pick-me-ups after a few too many networking beers the night before…

Great speakers

The range of speakers was great, and they all brought something different to the table. No two talks were the same and they all offered a refreshingly honest perspective.

Many of the speakers from 2019 are coming back for more in 2020, with some new faces also joining the lineup as well.

Wide range of tactics

It’s pretty rare to see such wide range of tactics being shared on stage at the same event. You really get the whole SEO spectrum, with live case studies and tests to back up claims. Eye-opening and challenging, the tactics shared offered a unique perspective on global SEO.

Link Research Tools

Learn more about Link Research Tools

Of course, for anyone who is interested in using Link Research Tools as part of their work, the conference is a great opportunity to learn more about the tool’s new features, connect with other users, and generally be immersed in the ecosystem. It’s a powerful tool, even more so when used to its full potential.

Us getting certified to use Link Research Tools is important for us — as an agency who build links as part of our media relations, we need the best possible data on link building.

It’s all for charity

Icing on the cake: it’s all for a good cause. This year, the event collectively raised over 43,000 euros for an awesome charity: SOS Kinderdorf who help children caught up in conflict and famine around the world.

We had a great time at LRTCon 2019, and are looking forward to the 2020 event already…
